Product Specifications

Product Series Characteristic
EconoGuard (OPC-01) Fast-setting Fiberglass/Polymer Bandage requiring 3-5 minutes setting time; light weight and strong.

Orthopedic Casting Tape, also known as an Orthopedic Casting Bandage, is a strong, durable, moldable and comfortable casting tape/bandage that offers some advantages compared to common plaster of paris bandages. Like plaster bandages, fiberglass and polymer are easy to apply, but light-weight and more durable. Fiberglass or polyester impregnated with polyurethane, also producing less mess when applied, is commonly used for non-displaced fractures and severe soft-tissue injuries.

STAYGUARD™ IS THE BRAND OF CHOICE

StayGuard™ orthopedic casting tapes are made of synthetic materials that offer some benefits over traditional plaster bandages. Light-weight knitted polyester fabric is impregnated with a water activated polyurethane resin that requires only 3-5 minutes to set with weight-bearing capability in only 20 minutes. With good elasticity and flexibility, also being 100% transparent for x-rays, orthopedic casting tape is highly moldable for the technician and comfortable for the patient by making a more snug fit which will reduce irritation of the skin. In addition, plaster has a smoother surface and does not snag clothing. Our casting tapes and bandages are ISO, CE and USFDA approved.

PRODUCT USAGE

StayGuard™ orthopedic casting bandages are used in hospitals, clinics, for first aid, and for any other medical application that requires a part of the body to be immobilized and stabilized until the healing process has concluded. Available is various colors and sizes, these bandages are an alternative to plaster of paris bandages.

FAQs

What are the advantages of StayGuard™ orthopedic casting tape over the traditional plaster casting tape?
StayGuard™ orthopedic casting tape is three times stronger but only one third the weight of a traditional plaster of paris cast. Unlike traditional plaster casts, synthetic casting tape is waterproof and can be used for x-rays.
How should I apply the StayGuard™ orthopedic fiberglass/polymer casting tape?
1) Wear surgical gloves to prevent contact with the synthetic casting materials. 2) Put cast padding or stockinet sleeve on the injured area. 3) Remove packaging and take out the cast. 4) Immerse the casting tape in room temperature water for three to five seconds and press the casting tape two to three times. Remove the casing tape from the water and squeeze out any excess water. 5) Wrap the cast spirally on the injured area two to three times, overlapping the previous layer by 1/2 or 2/3 the width of the roll. 6) Shape the cast accordingly to achieve good contact between the layers.
How should the StayGuard™ orthopedic casting tape be handled and stored?
Always wear gloves when handling the product to prevent skin contact with unset resin. StayGuard™ orthopedic casting tape should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area.
Can the StayGuard™ orthopedic casting tape get wet?
Our synthetic casting tape is designed to be waterproof, but the padding inside the cast is not. Therefore, it is important to keep the cast from getting wet. Waterproof liners should be used to bathe or swim during the healing process.
