Hip Abduction Orthosis is a brace that is specifically designed and carefully manufactured to provide firm support and stabilization for hips to promote healing. It is typically used following a revision of a hip replacement or after a hip dislocation. The rigid brace structure holds the femur (upper thigh) in the hipi socket to prevent excessive motion. More specifically, this brace prevents excessive flexion or extension of the hip and holds the thigh in the hip socket.

STAYGUARD™ IS THE BRAND OF CHOICE

StayGuard™ brand of Hip Abduction Orthosis is uniquely positioned as the brand of choice for medical professionals with distribution to both developed and developing markets. Made with best-quality medical-grade stainless steel, breathable fabric, and PP, our Hip Abduction Orthosis is ISO, CE, and USFDA certified.

Our Hip Abduction Orthosis consists of a pelvic band that goes around your waist, a thigh portion that wraps around your problem thigh, and a hinge that holds the two pieces together and regulates the range of motion. It is an effective treatment for potential or existing problems following total hip replacement.

PRODUCT USAGE

It is very important to apply the hip abduction orthosis properly. First, put on a comfortable cotton shirt to prevent skin irritation. Then, open all straps on the brace and slip the thigh portion around your leg and the waist portion around your waist. The location of the waistband should be positioned in the space between the ribcage and the top of the hip. Fasten all the straps on the thigh piece and the waist. Tighten straps to the maximum. Depending on the angles the doctor set in the brace, your leg should be positioned off to the side.

FAQs

How long should I wear hip abduction orthosis?
Hip abduction orthosis should be worn 24 hours per day unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.
How can I clean hip abduction orthosis?
If removal of hip abduction orthosis is allowed by your physician, you may remove the pads from the brace for washing. However, remember the pad location and position on the brace. Pads may be hand washed in lukewarm water with mild soap. Make sure to thoroughly rinse the soap from pads to prevent any skin irritation. Lay flat to dry naturally. The plastic component of the brace may be wiped with a damp cloth or with rubbing alcohol.
What can I do if my hip abduction orthosis hurts my hip?
Make sure that the straps on your brace are tight. Loosening up the straps will allow the brace to move on your body and may lead to a possible dislocation.
How can I sit down while wearing hip abduction orthosis?
Sitting upright at 90⁰ while wearing the hip abduction orthosis is difficult and not recommended. The device is specifically designed to limit this motion. To sit with the brace on a reclining chair or pillows for back support may be helpful. Also, avoid sitting in low chairs as standing up will be difficult. When attempting to stand, lean away from the injured leg and use your arms to push up out of the chair.
